fANCY tHAT fINDS.......

Finally we are back in the blog world.....one step at a time we are getting back to normal but normal is not what we want.

We will soon be announcing our Design Team for 2013 and compared to last year we were overwhelmed.  It was only when we attending the craft shows that the interest in designing took off!!!

Our dies.....Fancy That are designed by me.....Emilia but manufactured in the USA buy the same company that manufactures most of the wafer thin dies you see today.

These are the dies of the future and are so light and easy to store compared to some of the thickers dies not to mention they are priced extremely well.

We have received overwhelming response regarding the price and designs. So we know we are doing something very right!!!

Thanks you for all of your feedback and positive comments......after the last 7 months I have had, the people I have met at the craft shows have reminded me how worthwhile this really is.

Enough about me....I wanted to share a few things we found and hope these projects will inspire you to make some amazing creations.  I love the cards and scrapbook pages Leanne Allinson makes.  She inspires me everytime I visit her blog.

Another gorgeous scrapbook project from 'Our Little Family' blog.  The Fancy That Doily Flower 1 was used and only available at The Papercraft Hub.  I never though to use patterned paper but how effective is this????

How do you store your ribbons?

I used to have ribbons everywhere....and I mean everywhere.  I also had them stored different ways until I realised there was a better way.

Introducing RIBBON RING.  A really great way to store your ribbons.

No more wrinkled, creased or tangled ribbons when you use the Ribbon Ring!

The beauty of the ribbon ring is that you can have one for every colour family and you can store quite a few ribbons on each ring.

The Ribbon Ring Starter set (available at The Papercraft Hub) comes with 30 ribbon cards and one ring to store all the cards on. To use the cards, you pull your ribbon through the two slots on the ribbon card and viola!

Grab a 3M hook or something more decorative and hang these on your wall for a great effect.  How effective would it be????

The Great Outdoors with Fancy That dies

Hello Everyone! Today I am back to share a little "Fancy That Dies" goodness thanks to The Papercraft Hub! This week I have once again combined a layout about my older boys and... wait for it... flowers! LOL! (The things I do to my boys.. *grin*)...

Products used: Fancy That Dies - photo corners 2, frilled blossoms, swirly flourish, scalloped rolled rose, Moroccan wall paper, scalloped floret.

I love creating interesting backgrounds, especially when it draws the focus to my photos. The added texture/layer creates a fun element on my page. This gorgeous “Moroccan” die reminds me of a garden trellis and playing outside. Something my older boys love to do.

 

The flowers I’ve added to this boyish layout have been cut from masculine colours. Surely that counts for something! *grin* The “frilled blossoms” look amazing teamed up with the “scalloped rolled rose” and the smaller “scalloped floret”.

 

And to add some depth to the paper garden I’ve created, I have tucked a "swirly flourish" beneath the flower petals. Again the flourish emphasises the idea of a garden trellis with vines growing over it.

To finish off my layout I’ve added a journaling pocket to hold the details and decorated it with a simple “photo corner”.

So there you have it. Another boyish layout with flowers! hee hee. Thanks for visiting..x

Photogenic

Okay. So I know I am totally biased when it comes to our kids. It's genetically wired into us as parents, I'm sure, to believe that our children are the cutest kids on earth, with the sweetest of smiles. :) And of course it helps portray that image when we usually only share the best photos we have of them. ;D But it wasn't until recently, when a friend was looking through my photos of Tahlia and just stopped and said.. "Gee... She's so photogenic", that I really stopped to think about it.

There was a certain amount of pride as I just stood back, smiled and silently agreed. :) And I know that at the moment (aged 12) she is starting to get really body conscious with certain WRONG ideas in her head as to what the media says she should look like, just to be pretty. So the photogenic conversation and her body image ideas have obviously stuck in my head. Because as I sat down to scrap in the last day or two, I converged the two thoughts into one and this is what I produced...

I have used the new release Doily Flower 1 and photo corners 2 from the Fancy That Dies range available from The Papercraft Hub. And yes... I've snuck in the sweet blooms die...again!

I've cut out two of the doily flower 1's and used one as a matte under the main cluster. The other one I simply trimmed down to create these lacy edges on my border. A cute feminine touch. :)

I've also gone on to journal some more private thoughts about her ideas and included it as hidden journaling on my layout. I want her to remember how I interpreted her feelings on the subject of body image, at a later date. And no matter what anyone else says... I think she is the cutest, most photogenic girl on the planet! hahaha.. maybe even in the whole universe. :)

Cold Sand

Hello Friends. It's time for "Fancy That Wednesday", thanks to The Papercraft Hub. :) And I have a layout to share with you that incorporates a few of the gorgeous dies available from the shop...

The scalloped rolled rose from the new release has been layered with the base of several sweet blooms petals. I love that the effect is so dramatic and has an icy demeanor, accentuated by being cut from the blue cardstock... after all, I was journaling about "cold sand". a.k.a "snow"!! *grin*



The petals on the rose have been rolled tight and bent ever so slightly to create the fresh opening of a rose. The ginkgo die also reminds me of frost spreading across the layers of paper. I've left some of the leaves to reach upwards, free of adhesive, to add to the look and appeal. :)

As for the strange title... LOL! When Tahlia was 22 months old, we traveled to England to visit hubby's family. It was in February and she (and myself) saw snow for the very first time! The trouble was, for a beach-going, Summer - loving toddler, it was really hard to explain what snow was! lol! Tahlia however, came up with her own explanation of what it was. Simply put... it was "cold sand"!

So last year, our very worldly 11yo, decided she could tell her brothers exactly what this business of snow was all about! *grin* I dare say she doesn't really remember her trip to England, but sometimes explanations stick and stay true! hahaha!

Do you have any sayings that stay with you as you or your children grow?! I love jotting these things down and reusing them like this!

I {heart} this project that Leanne created.

I think it's the way she used so many flowers and made it look so good.  You can do this on a card as well.....Just GORGEOUS!!!!

Hello Friends! Happy Monday! :) I thought I'd start the week with a little bit of scrapping and share a layout created for The Papercraft Hub and Fancy That Dies.

Lately I've been admiring all of these talented scrappers who use flowers. And lots of them. haha.. I'm usually a little bit more reserved with those sort of embellishments but I thought I'd try my hand at it too. But.... I added a little twist to challenge myself somewhat....

I had to make all the flowers myself. Therefore no pre-made/manufactured flowers allowed! Argh! I know right..?! What was I thinking! hee..

So what did that leave me with? Sweet Blooms from Fancy That Dies of course. And (because I love layering so much...) I added the Small Scallop Floret to some of the base petals of sweet blooms. sigh. I also love the flourish script that was printed onto the Bo Bunny patterned paper.

I spy...

Hello Friends. Today I want to share a layout created with the new release Fancy That Dies available right now from The Papercraft Hub. I tell you, these dies are so detailed and fun to work with, you are limited only to your imagination when it come to creating with them. :)

Lately I've noticed an increasing trend to snap photos with your phone. It is such an easy devise to use and let's face it. I'm sure there are rarely any of us who leave the house without our phones these days.. *grin*. And the apps you can get to edit and play with, are fabulous too!

My children are still too young (in my opinion) to have access to their own mobile device. However, it doesn't stop them from sneaking away with my i-phone any chance they get, to play games or like Cameron... take photos! lol! I just know when he's been near my phone...

Check out the gorgeous Ginko Flourish from Fancy That Dies available at The Papercraft Hub! And that isn't even the full size! I've trimmed a few leaves from off the underside and shortened it's length. I wanted to use its graceful curves to lead the eye to my hidden journaling.

I've also added the Dispy Daisy from Fancy That cut from blue cardstock. It gives just the right amount of textural interest without it being overwhelming or distracting.

 

 

 

And finally I couldn't leave a layout without adding a Doily Flower tucked between some patterned papers! *grin*

 

 

So.. Do you scrap using photos from your phone? I have to admit this is a new thing for me to play with. And I'm kicking myself for not doing it before now. The next time you are sitting down holding your phone, take the opportunity to scroll through your photos and start forming ideas in your head on how you should document their stories.
